SCCAOR Foundation
Giving Back to the Communities We Serve
The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® Foundation provides an avenue for organized real estate to collect funds and offer direct assistance back into the communities we serve. The Foundation works to create a strong community, connect those who care with those making a difference, and support housing issues for the long-term.
Foundation Goals:
- To serve those in need of affordable housing and to serve those in need of breaking the cycle of homelessness.
- To serve children and families in crisis.
- To assist residents in Santa Clara County in attaining a sense of community pride and building respect for neighborhoods.
Mission Statement:
Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® Foundations' mission is to bring organized real estate together with our communities by investing in our neighborhoods with compassion, foresight and action.
Created in 1991 by REALTOR® members, the SCCAOR REALTORS® Foundation has made amazing strides and has contributed an excess of $300,000 to a wide variety of local charitable organizations.
Recent Endevours:
During the past two years, the Foundation awarded more than $75,000 to the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County. These funds were generated from REALTOR® supported fundraising events, close-of-escrow grants and donations made during the annual dues billing process.
The Foundation established organized real estate’s commitment to providing affordable housing for working people in our cities and strives to alleviate Santa Clara County’s housing crisis.
Past Funding:
The Foundation’s grants are generally given to benefit organizations that positively affect the housing industry. Past grants include donations to InnVision, the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County, Habitat for Humanity, Grail Housing, San Jose Beautiful, and the SCC Children’s Shelter. During the holiday season, the Foundation raises separate funds to donate food and cash to Second Harvest Food Bank and various shelters and food kitchens throughout the County.
Where is Your Contribution Going?
By distributing at least 5% of its endowment annually and investing the rest, the Foundation is building a base of endowed capital to address future community needs.
Less than 11% of Foundation funds are used for administration, which puts almost 90 percent of all funds to work for charitable purposes.

Community foundations are 501(c)(3) organizations that make grants for charitable purposes in a specific community or region. The funds available to a community foundation are usually derived from many donors and held in an endowment that is independently administered; income earned by the endowment is then used to make grants. Although a community foundation may be classified by the IRS as a private foundation, most are classified as public charities and are thus eligible for maximum tax-deductible contributions from the general public
