SAN JOSE, Calif., January 12, 2012 – Santa Clara County February Home Sales Remain Stable
The Santa Clara County housing market remains strong and stable – average home sale prices in December remained at approximately the level of December 2010 despite fluctuations.
SAN JOSE, Calif., January 9, 2012 – The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® proudly announces industry veteran Barbara Lymberis to be its 2012 President.
Lymberis and husband Nick, both long-time REALTORS®, operate as the Perfect Harmony Properties Team at Keller Williams Silicon Valley. She served as president-elect and vice president of SCCAOR before ascending to the presidency. She has been on the Board of Directors of the association and the Executive Committee since 2007. She served on a variety of committees, such as Finance, Government Relations, and Membership. She also chaired the Santa Clara County REALTORS® Foundation.
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 7, 2011 – The Santa Clara County REALTORS® Foundation raised and donated more than $14,000 in cash and toys to an elementary school and an adoptive children’s organization this holiday season. The foundation is the charitable arm of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® (SCCAOR).

Housing affordability for first-time homebuyers in Santa Clara County stood at 59 percent in the second quarter of 2011 – one of the highest levels since 2000 – according to the California Association of REALTORS®.
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 2, 2011 – The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® has donated $10,000 to help save downtown San Jose’s cherished holiday events.
Every year between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, more than a half million people come downtown to visit Christmas in the Park, twirl and glide at the Downtown Ice outdoor skating rink, and take the rides of Winter Wonderland. But the city of San Jose faces a budget shortage and cannot subsidize these events like it has in the past. Christmas in the Park and Downtown Ice need an additional $320,000 in sponsorship to operate in 2011.
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 7, 2011 – Rescinding Prop 90 Would Hurt Rather Than Benefit Local Economy
The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® supports preserving Prop 90, a 22-year-old initiative that enables seniors to transfer their base annual property tax to their new home when they sell their original one, if the new property is of equal or lesser value. Santa Clara is one of eight counties where Prop 90 is approved, and seniors may receive this tax benefit when relocating to another county on that list.

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 1, 2011 – Santa Clara County First-Time Buyer Housing Affordability at 57 Percent in Q4 2010
The percentage of households that could afford to buy an entry-level home in Santa Clara County stood at 57 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to the California Association of REALTORS®. It is higher than the 52 percent for the same period of 2009, and more than double the 25 percent for the second and third quarters of 2007, the lowest since 2000.
