The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® has donated $10,000 to the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) Disaster Relief Fund to help victims of the Southern California wildfires that left thousands of people homeless.

August 28 2007 :: Sexual Predator Posing as Homebuyer on the Prowl Again
Convicted sexual offender Daniel Duran, who was arrested in Morgan Hill in April for unlawfully loitering at a school and released in August after serving his time, has been spotted again in the same city while acting suspiciously.

August 14 2007 :: REALTORS® Make Progress in Raising Conforming Loan Limit
In May, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would raise the conforming loan limit in areas where the median home price is higher than the maximum amount of the loan: $417,000, which is set by quasi-government agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® has launched a new website at www.sccaor.com that offers a wealth of consumer information on the home buying or selling process. Consumers are able to access comprehensive housing information at the website for free, such as transaction basics, market statistics, buyer assistance programs, schools, and selling or buying tips. Consumers will learn how to protect their rights, make good decisions and save money.  

June 22 2007 :: Thief Reportedly Poses as Homebuyer or Police Officer at Open Houses
The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® asks Bay Area residents to be on the alert for a thief who allegedly poses as a homebuyer or as a police officer at real estate open houses or realty offices in Berkeley and other cities of the region.

May 22 2007 :: Prominent Expert to Discuss Real Estate Investment
Adiel Gorel, a real estate investment expert who has been profiled on NBC, ABC, the San Francisco Examiner and Fortune Magazine, will give an extremely informative presentation on how to invest in real estate in today’s market at SCCAOR on June 28th.

May 18 2007 :: Manager of Federal Reserve Bank to Discuss Its Impact on Mortgage Rates
Paul Dillard, a senior examiner and manager of the Federal Reserve Bank, will make a presentation on the Federal Reserve Bank, especially on how it affects mortgage rates, on May 31 at SCCAOR. The seminar will be open to SCCAOR members and the public.

May 15 2007 :: SCCAOR Awards Student Winners in Homeownership Essay Contest
Malik Brown, a junior at Oak Grove High School in San Jose, and Eduardo Camacho, an eighth-grader at August Boeger Junior High School in San Jose, will receive $1,000 and $750, respectively, in cash awards and will be honored at the San Jose City Hall tonight for their excellent answers to the question, “What is your American Dream?”

RSVP is a community outreach program offered each year to seniors who cannot otherwise perform certain household tasks due to physical or financial constraints. This free assistance is offered by local REALTORS® in cooperation with a number of community organizations and senior centers.

March 27 2007 :: Sexual Predator Alert
The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® warns Bay Area residents of a convicted sexual predator who has allegedly posed as homebuyer and acted suspiciously in Pleasanton and Morgan Hill. Since the person in question has a San Jose address and may strike in other parts of the Bay Area, SCCAOR asks homeowners in the region to stay alert.

The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® asks consumers to be on the alert for a rental property scam that’s surfacing in the Silicon Valley.

March 2 2007 :: RSVP
Volunteers from the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® will go to the homes of the elderly and the disabled to help with household tasks May 7 to 12. Called the REALTOR® Service Volunteer Program (RSVP), the annual community outreach project embodies real estate professionals’ commitment to the community.
