ID | What do you see as the greatest challenges to your business |
---|---|
2551 |
Buyers reading too much into the “negative” press. The “wait and see” attitudes. |
2552 | |
2553 |
I have been in business for 40yrs and new challenges always come up. Any professional business person in any business should expect new challenges with their business. Being informed, educated, and enthusiastic about your career will always take you forward. I really do not see any challenges in my business since I try to stay fluid and mold with any future changes. Therefore I try to learn and adapt. I do keep in contact with my clients always and show them I am not only a REALTOR but a trusted adviser and friend. They know they can come to me anytime for my help. |
2554 |
Slow markets |
2555 |
More large companies like Zillow coming into the buying and selling process. Further erosion of commissions. |

The big guys such as Amazon, Redfin, etc. are getting into the Real Estate business. |
2560 |
The influx of market disrupters who will charge less and give little service. |
2561 |
Ours is a relationship business. The challenges coming at us from Technology, disruptors, new transaction methodology, low commission programs etc…are all just additional ways for some to try to gain clients. If I keep my relationships with clients strong, there will be little effect on my business from those others. That keeps me in control. |

Politics and the increasing willingness of politicians to infringe upon property rights as well as their incessant drive to squabble, particularly as the next election approaches, which creates fear and uncertainty in the environment leading to buyer’s being more apprehensive. |

I think we are faced with political challenges that will exacerbate the high cost of housing causing sales to remain slow for the foreseeable future. Unless our government leaders understand that raising more taxes will only create more stress in the housing market which will drive middle class buyers into becoming the buyer of bygone days. |
2587 |
Buyers being priced out of the market. A lack of affordable supply of homes. |
2588 |
Redfin is a greatest challenge. Tech is good and bad for Real Estate. MLS should not share our listings to redfine or Zillow. It should stay with Realtor.com in my opinion. |
2589 |
Too few listings which effects income, ethical behavior with other agents over- promising and prop 90 not including all 58 counties. |
2590 | |

Finding buyers. Home sales are way down in the area that I work, and the listings are piling up. We need more people to move within California, as opposed to out of state, seniors especially since I work in a senior community. |
2606 |
(1) Part time agents. Full time agents end up doing the work for both sides. Part-time do not take classes, only sell once in awhile so there experience is limited. They also have no issues of giving away 1/2 their commissions to sellers/buyers since they really have no “skin in the game”. |

Being a small firm, often tough to compete for listings. However many of the current courses are very helpful in helping us to stand out. Sellers don’t believe small firms can offer the same exposure if when you show them that you can. |

2709 |
Discount brokers and on-line platforms designed to eliminate agents. |
2710 |
A deterioration in service quality and professionalism as agents attempt to compete on price alone. This race to the bottom in price and quality undermines the public’s perception of the value that we bring to transactions. |

2733 |
There are a lot of new and old players that create lots of noise, distractions and demean the value of agents, even some agents are guilty of disparaging the profession using huge discounts and gimmicks. Mainly it’s the vast amount of misinformation on the net which I have to market against. |
2734 |
Lots of new agents getting in the business. Even if they all do just a couple of deals with friends and family, it dilutes the pool of possible clients. |
2735 | |
2736 |
Excessive MLS Listings exposure in internet to public; affecting the need of real estate agent’s professionalism. Public think that they know them all. |

I really look at challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. I do not beleive our industry is going out of business anytime soon. We have always had disrupters and different Real Estate models. It is not likely any of the ones we are currently facing are going to put me out of business. I thrive in any market because I am acutely aware that I do not control the markets. It is my job to be informed and help my clients be aware of all of their options when it comes to buying, selling, or investing in Real Estate. |

2863 | |
2864 | |
2865 |
Buyers who are not able to get a pre approved loan |
2867 |
It can be cyclical – Sellers market and then buyers etc. I have to be able to switch gears or keep my marketing up to service both. Not just sellers. That is a bit of a challenge. |
2869 |
Greatest challenge to residential real estate agents will be the ibuyers companies like Open Door, Purple Brick, Zillow. Sellers love the convenience, choose when to close, not doing repairs, not dealing with negotiations, not dealing with another agent…etc, etc. People will give up a percent or so on profit for this. Especially the convenience factor of choosing closing dates and not doing open houses or showings. This is going to hurt agents bad. |

After hours support for general help would be extremely helpful. Often times I have to wait until the next business day. It would also be great if you have some PRDS forms on hand for Real Estate Agents. This year there were two instances, and when I called on a weekend – no one is available to help.
