What has the RAF accomplished for you?
What has the RAF – REALTOR® Action Fund accomplished for you?
The RAF is more than a voluntary political contribution. The RAF is what allows REALTORS® to have a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect your business, your clients, and the future of homeownership.
Over the past year alone, the RAF investments SCCAOR members have made have influenced public policy, built coalitions, educated decision-makers, and mobilized REALTORS® throughout Santa Clara County and the Bay Area.
Because REALTORS® invested in advocacy, SCCAOR has been able to deliver meaningful results, including:
Fighting for Housing Affordability in San José, Campbell & Milpitas
Through the education of elected officials, persistent advocacy, and member mobilization, SCCAOR persuaded San José, Campbell, and Milpitas City Councilmembers to reject proposed electric-ready reach code requirements. These requirements would have increased housing costs and further compounded each city’s housing affordability crisis.
Exposing Government Actions Before They Become Policy
SCCAOR educated members and brought greater public attention to major regional proposals, including:
- The Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Transit-Oriented Communities Policy
- The Bay Area Air District’s proposed ban on gas water heaters and furnaces
Leading a Regional Coalition
SCCAOR spearheaded the creation of the Too Costly Bay Area Coalition, bringing together dozens of organizations across the region to expose the natural gas appliance ban and associated costs for homeowners throughout the nine-county Bay Area. The TooCostly Coalition has been a leader in this debate, and the significance of these issues was underscored when the United States Supreme Court vacated the lower court’s decision and directed further review last month.
Supporting REALTOR® Champions
SCCAOR provided an early endorsement of Genny Altwer for San José City Council District 9, a champion for small businesses, property rights, law enforcement, and homeownership. In last month’s Primary Election, she won by a massive margin, making her the clear frontrunner going into November’s General Election. She has received the endorsements of Mayor Matt Mahan and Vice Mayor Pam Foley.
Mobilizing REALTORS® on Local Priorities
SCCAOR rallied members in support of Mayor Matt Mahan’s June 2025 budget priorities, including Responsibility to Shelter and Pay for Performance — good government policies designed to improve accountability, address homelessness, and protect taxpayers.
These accomplishments are possible because REALTORS® choose to invest in the RAF.
The policy challenges for REALTORS® continue to grow. Proposals that increase housing costs, disincentivize home purchases, restrict consumer choice, and erode property rights continue to emerge at every level of government. Without a strong REALTOR® voice, those decisions will be made without us.
Your investment in the REALTOR® Action Fund helps ensure that REALTORS® remain informed, engaged, and effective advocates for homeownership, private property rights, and quality-of-life issues.
Please consider making your voluntary REALTOR® Action Fund investment today. Every contribution strengthens our ability to protect our industry, our clients, and the communities we serve.
Together, we can continue making a difference.
